We can engage in activities and build programs that meet the "social capital" needs of our community members and that address our key focus areas.
* Social Capital definition: the utility, quality, and quantity of relationships
The central activity of our initiative is to reach out to a diverse and large community of stakeholders to understand their needs, capabilities and interests. From Summer 2024 through the end of the year, Community Heals Us will make contact with 50,000 Chicagoans, community groups, and civic leaders to engage in conversations.
As part of our collaboration with the WithCommunity network, Community Heals Us will host structured Zoom Meet-Ups—short, purpose-driven conversations guided by a shared agenda. These sessions are designed to foster meaningful connections, spark collaboration, and support participants in aligning their efforts with others across our community. Whether one-on-one or in small groups, each meeting offers a space for thoughtful dialogue and collective action.
Our social media discourse has become a source of disconnect. Still, some difficult conversations need to happen publicly. With our coalition partners, we will moderate a constructive and respectful dialogue to build mutual understanding and generate actionable solutions.
We are joining forces with community groups, businesses, and others interested in bringing more voices into community betterment work.
