We can engage in activities and build programs that meet the "social capital" needs of our community members and that address our key focus areas.
* Social Capital definition: the utility, quality, and quantity of relationships
We are joining forces with community groups, businesses, and others interested in bringing more voices into community betterment work.
The central activity of our initiative is to reach out to a diverse and large community of stakeholders to understand their needs, capabilities and interests. From Summer 2024 through the end of the year, Community Heals Us will make contact with 50,000 Chicagoans, community groups, and civic leaders to engage in conversations.
We are building advisory teams to help guide community groups and to support their constituents. For example, we’re forming a medical advisory team to help support the leadership of community groups with current information about health issues.
Our social media discourse has become a source of disconnect. Still, some difficult conversations need to happen publicly. With our coalition partners, we will moderate a constructive and respectful dialogue to build mutual understanding and generate actionable solutions.
